What is Modern Chess?
Modern Chess is chess evolved! This game offers a new way to play chess with two new and powerful pieces: the Tank and Jet.
Modern Chess is more dynamic and suspenseful from start to finish.
Inspired by the world’s greatest chess players each building upon a common goal: better chess. First, a normal chess game begins. Then, two powerful pieces dynamically enter play on variable squares. A brilliant game of Modern Chess ensues, followed by checkmate, and a handshake! A new dimension is added to our favorite game which enables never-before-seen openings, enhanced competition, more checkmates, and more fun!
What are the new pieces?
Tank
A fusion of the knight and rook, the tank blasts through its opposition on the chess board!
Jet
A fusion of the knight and bishop, the jet slices through enemy defenses on the chess board!
Why?
Traditional chess became stale. Modern Chess is designed to make chess more fun and dynamic! The sandbox is enjoyed by enthusiasts and grandmasters alike. Modern Chess is chess evolved!

Rules of Deployment:
Deploying
Deploying is the process of activating the new pieces! Players may deploy a new piece during the initial move of any piece. When deploying the side simultaneously moves one piece and activates one tank or jet. The deployed piece is then placed on the vacated square of the moved piece. The deployed piece is considered immediately active. Deploying cannot be played during castling. If a side has initiated all their pieces then they’ve exhausted their ability to deploy for the remainder of the game.
